Does Sweepstakes Ninja
work on a Mac/Macintosh?
Yes, you can get the software to work on
a Macintosh, even though the software is designed for Microsoft Windows.
However, you need something called an 'emulator'. An emulator lets you run
PC-Based software on a Macintosh.
Several good programs that let you run you can try are 'CrossOver Mac' and
'Parallels Desktop'. Both offer trial versions, which you can purchase later if
you wish. You can download the software from these sites:
CrossOver
Mac
http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxmac/
(Retails for $49.95 - $69.95. Does NOT require Windows to run.)
|
One
major advantage of CrossOver Mac, right from the publishers website --
is that you don't actually need a Windows license in order to run
Windows applications. This is right from their website: "CrossOver
allows you to install many popular Windows applications on your Mac or
Linux computer. You can think of it as an emulator, but it's different,
because there's no Windows OS license required. Your applications
integrate seamlessly in OS X or Linux; just click and run. No rebooting,
no switching to a virtual machine, and no Windows Operating System
license required!
Adding new Windows software is
easy. Just place your install CD in your machine, and CrossOver will
recognize it and offer to install it. Once installed, CrossOver will
configure your application to run on your computer. That's all there is
to it."
If you decide to get the full version (which will allow you to run other
Windows applications as well), as of this writing, it retails for
between $49.95 - $69.95.
When you try it, please contact us and let us know whether you are able
to successfully run it, and we will update this page. We have heard some
success stories -- but want to have much broader 'feedback' so we can
post a definite answer.

Parallels
Desktop http://www.parallels.com/ca/download/desktop/
(Retails for between $79.95 -
$319, depending whether you get a Windows license with it or not. DOES
require windows to run though, so you either need a Windows license
yourself, or need to purchase one).

This
software essentially allows you to run 'Native' Windows applications as
if you were running Windows on your computer, because, essentially, you
are. (A computer within a computer). It uses something called 'Desktop
Virtualization'. However, you will need to actually have a copy of
Windows as well, in order to use it.
The major advantage is that Windows applications should be '100%'
compatible, because you actually 'are' running the applications in
Windows. People have contacted us and said they have successfully used
Sweepstakes Ninja in Parallels.
Parallels does have a package 'with' a Windows license (Windows 7),
however obviously that costs more money. If you want that, you can get
it here, http://www.parallels.com/ca/windows7/.
(Windows 7 currently retails for anywhere from $199-$319). |
There are also other software emulators, the easiest way to find them is to do a
google search for them (click
here for that - it will search for 'MAC PC Emulators'). If you are
interesting in learning more about what virtualization is, etc, then this is a
good article -- Mac
Tech Virtualation Benchmarks
If you personally use a specific
emulator, and find it works well with Sweepstakes Ninja, please contact us using
our contact form, and we'll update this page respectively.
Thanks! & Happy Sweepstaking!
